As maid of honour, you're much more likely to come unstuck when it comes to arranging the perfect afternoon for your bestie. We headed off to Plovdiv to find out what's hot and what's not in Bulgaria's second city.
Beautiful Plovdiv attracts hen parties for all sorts of reasons. Her massively well-preserved monuments are just some of them. Take a guided tour with a spot of lunch thrown in and you've got a killer start to your hen. There's a stunning Roman amphitheatre in the city, plus you'll get to see a beautiful monastery and explore the staggeringly lush Assenns Forest. Talking of which...
The alternative hen can make with the wild-lady act on a beautiful Bulgarian horse, out on the Plain of Plovdiv. The hills and mountains of Sredna Gora, the Rhodope Mountains and the Chirpan Heights offer plenty of scenic spots to get equestrian, and your riding instructor always picks a steed suitable for your skill level. We loved it and so will you!
Plovdiv's famous for her Bohemian leanings, so it's the perfect place to celebrate a hen party with plenty of vino in the afternoon! We reckon a wine tasting session is the ideal counterpoint to a horse riding trek - get some fresh air and take in the views first, then head on to a winery for a guided tour and a tutored tasting! You get lunch or dinner with the wine tour - so we'd recommend coming for vino and dinner after you've been riding.
