The X Factor's back! Watching all the hopefuls freaking in the audition room got me thinking about that classic hen party ice breaker: the karaoke booth. It's great for getting the party started when you've got girls from all over the country coming together to celebrate a soon-to-be-Mrs they know from different walks of life. But what do you sing on the night? Fear not, ladies. I've got a few tricks up my sleeve...
Because every night has to start with an uplifting tune! Break this one out of the bag early and you'll have the girls jumping around like the cast of Glee. I expect you to jump off the stage and sing in the crowd at least once. And get the ladies to do the Will.i.am bits. You could own the room in four minutes and 52 seconds!
Got stage fright? Several bottles of wine plus loads of ladies, it's the ideal time to break out a group singalong! Forget crooning nervously on your own, girls. The way to make a hen party karaoke session go like the clappers is to form groups. Bust out your most outrageous moves and give it some welly in the chorus. Hey, it's from the greatest movie of all time. Who wouldn't want a piece of that action?
Because every karaoke party needs a bit of Queen. “Bohemian Rhapsody” is waaaay too long. You won't get more rock into 5 minutes without breaking out the AC/DC. Let your hair down and go wild. The girls will love it. So will everyone else in the room!
The perfect song for chicas who aren't confident. You don't have to squawk, it's nice and slow without being boring. And you can whip out your inner coquette once you start getting a favourable reaction from the crowd. Throw in a few finger clicks and pouty looks for the full effect!
Enough said! Classic 80s anthem and totally perfect for a hen do. You'll have all the ladies up and singing with you before the first chorus has finished. Expect suggestive dances from at least, well, all of them. Hey, it's your BFF's last night of freedom. If you're not showing all the boys in the room what they're missing, you're missing an opportunity!
